Gönyeli Mayor Ahmet Benli visited Bahçeşehir Cyprus University. BAU Cyprus, which is the first and only university located in the Gonyeli-Alayköy region, hosted Mayor Ahmet Benli on its Alayköy campus.For this visit, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Eral Osmanlar, and Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toycan took their place along with many academic and administrative staff.

BAU Cyprus Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet TOYCAN started the talk by emphasizing the importance of adapting students to the city and country where they live and said, “Our aim is to bring students together with the society through joint activities.” 

In his speech, Mayor Ahmet Benli mentioned that they are highly aware of the important role universities play in the development of cities and that having higher education institutions integrated with the local community is a great gain for Gönyeli. He also added that it will make them very happy to take part in the activities that will be carried out in cooperation with the Bahçeşehir Cyprus University.

Closing remarks were made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Eral Osmanlar who also emphasized the importance of scientific studies that should be carried out in line with the goals of the city and the country. He concluded that this type of cooperation plays a vital role in regional development.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toycan conveyed his thanks to Mayor Ahmet Benli. The talk where higher education and local government issues were discussed, ended after a photoshoot.
