The Master’s program in ELT (MA with Thesis) is designed to provide candidates with academic background and thorough training in the theory and practice of English language teaching. MA candidates are required to take 5 courses, a Seminar, and submit a Master’s Thesis in order to complete their MA studies in ELT.

Program Learning Outcomes

The primary outcome of the program is to equip the students with advanced and specialized knowledge in the field and help them acquire skills for research. A well-balanced emphasis on theory and application is maintained throughout the program. The students who can successfully finish the Master’s program in English Language Teaching are equipped with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to address the needs of our country and to contribute to the development of foreign language education policies worldwide in line with the ever-changing global environment for foreign language teaching.

Assessment

Course assessment usually consists of a comprehensive final exam, midterm, quizzes, case analysis, projects, and participation in the class. Letter grades are calculated based on the weight of the final exam, midterm exam, quizzes, case analysis, projects, assignments, etc., and the actual numerical grades achieved in these assessment components. The student’s semester grade point average (GPA) and grade point average (CPA) are calculated according to the course grades.

Graduation

The student has to complete 120 ECTS and all program requirements. A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 3.0 is required.

In addition, graduates may pursue further studies in Ph.D. programs in both national and international universities; thus, they will gain opportunities for advanced academic studies in the field.
