Brief Description of Civil Aviation and Cabin Services Associate Degree Program

In today’s globalizing world, the importance of air transportation is increasing. In parallel with this, the aviation sector continues to develop rapidly, more and more airline companies are joining the civil aviation sector, national and international flight points are increasing rapidly, and the number of qualified personnel needed by the sector is also increasing. As a result, companies in the sector need more cabin attendants equipped with passenger relations, emergency rules, first aid, communication skills and foreign language skills.

 

Bahçeşehir Cyprus University Civil Aviation and Cabin Services Associate Degree Program aims to train highly qualified personnel who can keep up with the aviation sector, keep flight safety at the highest level, focus on customer satisfaction, have effective communication skills, solution-oriented, and can cope with the problems they face.

Our graduates, who receive the title of “Cabin Crew Officer”, will be able to be employed in national and international airline companies in the aviation sector in line with the skills they have gained, equipped with up-to-date information provided by experienced training staff.

Program Curriculum

To graduate from Bahçeşehir Cyprus University, 93 credits of course load must be completed. Our students take the basic courses required for civil aviation and cabin services (such as introduction to civil aviation cabin services, food and services, flight fundamentals, crew resource management, customer relationship management in aviation) in two years. In addition to the compulsory courses required for this branch, our students also take elective courses.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the program will have achieved the following outcomes:

  1. To have basic knowledge about the theories, facts, concepts, and principles related to civil aviation.
  2. Has knowledge about the civil aviation sector and its sub-business branches.
  3. Has knowledge about legal regulations, professional standards, and practices in civil aviation.
  4. Applies the activities, procedures, and security measures within the scope of cabin services.
  5. Manages applications related to emergency and safety procedures in applications.
  6. To be aware of the universal and social impacts of the practices related to Civil Aviation / Cabin Services.
  7. Has ethical responsibility and the ability to reflect this to the profession.
  8. Uses the knowledge acquired in the field of civil aviation in the business environment and in the development of the profession.
  9. Finds solutions to applications and problems within the framework of legal regulations and procedures.
  10. Has the necessary skills for the use of cabin equipment.
  11. Fulfills, evaluates, and develops service processes related to the field in line with consumer needs and requests and in a way to satisfy the consumer.
  12. Uses information technologies effectively.
  13. Knows and applies the applications in cabin services.
  14. Has the knowledge, skills, and competence to plan and manage activities for professional development in the aviation sector and to carry out teamwork.
  15. Identifies problems related to the field and establishes a cause-and-effect relationship.
  16. Has numerical and statistical research skills and thinking ability related to the field of civil aviation, the ability to foresee the results of decisions to be taken and to make accurate predictions, to consider cause-effect relationships, to have analytical thinking and to develop a strategic approach.
  17. Has the ability to work in a team, take responsibility, have leadership qualities and the ability to communicate with experts in other fields.
  18. Has the ability to analyze different decision situations.
  19. Recognizes the importance of cabin services in terms of civil aviation service delivery. Awareness of the importance and detailed implementation of flight safety and other technical procedures.
  20. Follows developments and trends and has foresight.
  21. Uses the knowledge acquired in the field of civil aviation in the business environment and in developing his/her profession.
  22. Has a command of basic and professional English and has the competence to actively use the operating systems required for the profession.
  23. Has the ability to speak correctly and effectively with Turkish written and oral communication competence.
  24. Has the competence to use communication techniques correctly.
  25. Has the ability to take an active role in teamwork.
  26. Has the ability to lead teamwork.
  27. Has professional ethics and social responsibility awareness.

  29. Chooses the appropriate behavior in cabin applications by considering passenger behavior.
  30. Recognizes the importance of cabin services in terms of civil aviation service delivery.
  31. Awareness of the importance and detailed implementation of flight safety and other technical procedures.
  32. Awareness of the commercial and economic dimension of civil aviation.
  33. Awareness of respecting the law, protecting the environment, and contributing to the society.

Assessment

Course assessment usually consists of a comprehensive final exam, midterms, projects, and continuous assessment.

Letter grades are calculated based on the weight of the final exam and continuous assessment and the actual numerical grades achieved in these two assessment components. The semester grade point average (GPA) and grade point average (CPA) of the student are calculated according to the course grades.

Graduation

The student must complete 120 ECTS and all program requirements. A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, an average grade of ‘C’ is required to achieve a CPA of 2.0.

Our university cooperates with Pegasus Airlines in relation to the civil aviation sector. Thanks to the joint projects and various studies carried out within this framework, our students have training, internship, and employment opportunities. Our graduates can also continue their academic careers by joining the undergraduate program of our faculty.
