F. Research Topics

Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehtap Kara’s research agenda focuses on the following research subjects:

  1. Foreign Policy Analysis and Security Studies. My research focuses on foreign policy analysis and security issues include Turkish foreign policy, American foreign policy, national security, international security, and great power politics.
  2. Theories of International Relations. Research topics include use of a wide range of IR theories to understand states/dominant actors’ behaviours, and key debates in IR.
  3. New Media and Politics. Research topics include innovative methods to studying international relations, new media and political participation, and investigating correlation between popular culture, social media, and politics.
