Economy Undergraduate Program

The BA Economy program provides students with the skills and specialist knowledge to develop and implement creative and responsible solutions in Economics. The economy covers all processes from production to consumption; It is a social science that studies subjects such as trade, distribution, import and export. The history of economics began with the beginning of human-induced economic activities. The Department of Economics, on the other hand, provides to follow, observe, and supervise the economic transactions of the world states, companies, institutions, or organizations and to obtain efficient results in the fields of sales/marketing by drawing meaningful results from these transactions. The Department of Economics aims to teach basic economics and analysis techniques to university students. It also aims to teach basic economics and analysis methods, and to develop students’ ability to research, analyse and evaluate results.

Economy Program Curriculum

Economy program is a 4-year undergraduate program. The economics program curriculum is designed to integrate economic theory and policies with the practices of the business world. It aims to establish a solid economic foundation. The educational content, which starts with basic theoretical lessons, is updated according to the conditions of the day. Students are supported by theoretical and applied field courses. Students who aim to include this program on their preference lists will be responsible for Basic Economics, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Environmental Economics, Money and Banking, Political Science, International Economics, Statistics, Development Economics, History of Economic Thought and many more courses throughout their education.

Program Learning Outcomes

On completion of the programme the student will be able to:

2 Having problem solving skills and using analytical approach when dealing with problems
3 To understand and grasp all the details of theoretical arguments and counterarguments
4 Being fully prepared for postgraduate education
5 To be able to apply theoretical principles to the realities of practical business life
6 To determine the right solutions to the problems in business life correctly
7 To know the necessary components to increase productivity in business life
8 Thinking innovatively and creatively in complex situations
9 Acting and thinking, both regionally and internationally
10 Understanding the demands and specific questions of globalization
11 To have the ability to fully utilize the potential of the Internet and the electronic world.
12 Being able to use at least one foreign language for both communication and academic purposes
13 Gaining leadership qualities but also knowing how to be a team member
14 Understanding the importance of business ethics and applying it as a basic guide in both business and academic settings
15 To have the moral courage and self-criticism perspective to be based on objective criticism in the task of business and academic life.

 

Assessment

Course assessment usually comprises of a comprehensive final exam and quiz projects assessment. Continuous assessment can include amongst others, mid-terms, projects, and class participation.

Letter grades are calculated based on the weight of the final exam and the continuous assessment and the actual numerical marks obtained in these two assessment components. Based on the course grades the student’s semester grade point average (GPA) and cumulative point average (CPA) are calculated.

Graduation

The student must complete 300 ECTS and all program requirements. A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, in order to achieve a CPA of 2.0 an average grade of ‘C’ is required.
